HMS RESOLUTE in Sun-spangled waters

During the height of summer the nights are as bright as the days, as this image of Resolute surrounded by waters reflecting the midnight sun. During the Arctic winters of 1852 and 1853 the Resolutes and Intrepids, along with the other men in the Belcher Expedition and the indigenous Arctic peoples, must say goodbye to the sun.
